    Diamond is the hardest natural matter on earth. Diamonds are classified  as Natural diamond, Synthetic Industrial Diamond and Thin Film Diamonds. Natural Diamonds are further classified into four categories depending on the type and amount of impurities in them. They are The Type1a, The Type1b, Type2a and Type2b. Type2a is the purest type of diamond and Type2b is the rarest type of diamond.

 

     The price of the diamond is based on its cuts, clarity and colour. The colour ranges from yellow, grey, brown, blue, pink, green, black and red. There are also colourless and transparent white diamonds. The transparent ones are the purest form of diamonds.

 

     Different types of diamond cuts and shapes:- Asscher cut, Baguette cut, Briollette cut, Cushion cut, Heart shape, Marquise cut, Pear cut, Princess cut and Radiant cut.

 

     Some famous diamonds

 

1.     The Cullinian diamond weighs 3106 carats. It  was chiseled and shaped into 105 beautiful diamonds. The largest is known as the Star of Africa.

2.     The Hope diamond – 45.52 carat steel blue diamond. It is basically flat shape with a rough texture.

3.     The Koh - I - Noor  - means ‘Mountain of light’.

4.     Taylor Burton diamond – 33.19 carat diamond.

5.      Jones diamond – 34.48 carats. It possesses 12 diamond shaped faces.

6.     The Allnatt diamond.

7.     The Centenary diamond.

8.     The Darya – ye Noor diamond.

9.     The Dresden Green diamond.

10. The Florentine diamond.

11. Millennium Star.

12. The Great Mogul diamond.

13. The Portuguese diamond.

14. The Oppenheimer diamond.

15. The Shah diamond.
